Troubleshooting
If you run into issues, the most common causes and fixes are listed below.
The verification is delayed because a shareholder was missing
- Every shareholder and every director must be added. Go back to the Shareholders and Directors section, add anyone who is missing, and resubmit.
A shareholder's ID was rejected
- The Proof of Identification must have at least 1 month of validity remaining. Photocopies and screenshots are not accepted. Retake the photo following the document quality tips and resubmit.
A shareholder's Proof of Residence was rejected
- The document must be issued within the last 3 months (for bank statements and utility bills), be clear and readable, and include the shareholder's name. Replace the document and click Update.
The Shareholding Percentages do not add to 100%
- Total shareholding percentages across all shareholders should equal 100%. Directors with no shares should be entered as 0%. Adjust the percentages and save.
Frequently asked questions
Q: What should I enter for Shareholding Percentage for a director who owns no shares?
A: Enter 0%. Directors who are not shareholders still need to be added and their identity documents uploaded.
Q: Do I need to add the Main Contact as a shareholder or director as well?
A: Yes. If the Main Contact is also a shareholder or director, they must still be added to the Shareholders and Directors list.
Q: Can I add shareholders in stages?
A: Yes. You can add and save shareholders one at a time, then return to the section to add more. But you should add everyone before submitting your verification for review.
Q: Do all shareholders need Proof of Residence?
A: Yes. Each shareholder and each director requires their own Proof of Identification and Proof of Residence.
