Overview
INGOT clients have two separate sets of login credentials, one for the Client Portal and one for each trading account. These are not interchangeable, and confusing the two is one of the most common login issues.
This article explains the difference, when to use each set, and what to do if you mix them up.
Step-by-step instructions
Use the table below to quickly identify which credentials to use:
Client Portal credentials
Your Client Portal credentials let you manage your account online — deposits, withdrawals, KYC documents, profile information, and security settings.
- Username: your registered email address.
- Password: the password you set when opening your INGOT account, or one you have updated since.
- Where you use it: the INGOT website Client Portal.
- Reset it: through the Forgot Your Password? link on the Portal login page.
Trading account credentials
Your trading account credentials let you log in to MT4 or MT5 to place trades.
- Username: your trading account number (a numeric ID, not your email).
- Password: the password sent in your welcome email titled "It's Official: You're a Trader!"
- Where you use it: in the MT4 or MT5 app, after selecting INGOT SC Ltd as broker and INGOTSC-Server as the server.
- Reset it: from inside the Client Portal under Accounts > [your trading account] > Change Password.
Troubleshooting
You tried to log in to MT4/MT5 with your Portal email and password
- MetaTrader does not accept email addresses — only trading account numbers. Refer to your welcome email titled "It's Official: You're a Trader!" for the correct credentials.
You tried to log in to the Portal with your trading account number
- The Client Portal uses your registered email address, not your trading account number. Use the email you signed up with.
You reset one password and the other no longer works
- This is not possible — resetting one password does not affect the other. Confirm you are using the correct credentials for the destination you are logging into.
Frequently asked questions
Q: Why are there two separate sets of credentials?
A: The Client Portal is for managing your account and profile, while the trading platform is for placing trades. Keeping them separate adds a layer of security — even if one is compromised, the other remains protected.
Q: Do I need to reset both passwords when changing my password?
A: No. They are managed independently. Reset whichever one you need.
Q: Can I have multiple trading accounts under one Client Portal?
A: Yes. You can have multiple trading accounts (demo and live) under a single Client Portal. Each has its own credentials. (5 Live Trading Accounts)
Q: Is my Client Portal password the same as my Master Password?
A: No. The Master Password is the trading account password. The Client Portal password is a separate password tied to your registered email.
